6.0 Release Notes

New Light & Dark Themes

Shock OS now features a light theme and a dark theme.

New Accent Colors

Shock OS now features 7 accent colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink.

New Logo

Shock OS 6.0 Finlay includes revamped Shock OS branding.

New Login Screen

The lightdm greeter has been replaced by slick-greeter.

New 'Printers' App

Shock OS now comes with a printer managementy app pre-installed. This will make Shock OS more convenient for those who use printers with their Raspberry Pi.

Shock OS Splash Screen Image Removed

The Shock OS splash screen was not very elegant, and it only showed for about two seconds. It didn't replace the command line splash, like it was supposed to. To make the boot up feel more efficient and less choppy, the splash screen is now completely removed.

'Modern' Panel Layout is Bigger

The 'Modern' panel layout is now 40 pixels tall, allowing for easier viewing and clicking of panel icons.

'Just Plain Tech' and 'Snailed It!' Apps Removed

DeskPi Case Support

Shock OS now includes out-of-the-box support for the two extra USB ports on the front of the DeskPi cases.

First-Run Setup Allows Audio Output Selection

By default, Shock OS outputs through the 3.5mm audio jack, but users can now switch to HDMI or another output during the first-run setup. This makes sound setup easier, especially for beginners.
