More Info

Shock OS is designed for the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 400 single board computers. Because it is based on Raspberry Pi OS, Shock OS will run on older Pi models, such as the Raspberry Pi 3 A+, 3 B+, 3 B, 2 A+, 2 B+, 2 B, 1 A+, 1 B+, Zero 2 W, Zero W, and Zero. However, keep in mind that these older Pi models are not considered optimal for desktop usage due to their extremely low hardware specs. Users on older Pi models will likely experience poor performance as well as other issues.

While booting from both SD and USB is fully supported, installing Shock OS on an external USB HDD or SSD is recommended for more storage space and faster read/write speeds. That being said, those who choose to install Shock OS on an SD card will still get a fully functional experience. A bare minimum of 16GB of storage space is recommended to install Shock OS.

Step 1: Download the Latest Shock OS Release

-OR-

Debian-based Linux users: You can also use Shock OS Imager, which is faster and easier:

Step 2: Install Raspberry Pi Imager

Raspberry Pi Imager will help you install Shock OS to your storage device (SD Card, USB stick, USB HDD, or USB SSD). Please choose the correct download for your operating system.

On Shock OS or Raspberry Pi OS, run the following command in a terminal to install Raspberry Pi Imager:

$ sudo apt install rpi-imager

Step 3: Flash the Image

After Raspberry Pi Imager has finished flashing the Shock OS image to the storage device, insert the storage device into your Raspberry Pi and power on the machine.

Step 4: Enjoy

Plug your storage device into your Raspberry Pi, turn it on, and enjoy Shock OS!
